  • Overview

    GIS Data Analysts collect, interpret, manage, and utilize data from a variety of sources for an assortment of mapping applications in the energy industry.


    • Retrieve, read, and interpret oil and gas courthouse documentation (leases, deeds, assignments, unit declarations, releases, amendments, extensions).
    • Spatially locate, map, and attribute parcels, leases, drilling units, etc. in various states across the country, using legal descriptions.
    • Understand and apply basic cartographic principles
    • Utilize data to create accurate, inclusive reports and high quality maps
    • Research properties to resolve underlying discrepancies.
    • Research and navigate various county, state, federal, and third party resources / websites to support daily tasks.
    • Ability to work alone and as part of a team.


    We prefer 1 to 2 years of experience and/or coursework in mapping and GIS software.  However, if you are comfortable with computers and maps – and willing to learn – we can teach you what you need to know!  Other applicable backgrounds may include IT, Engineering, CAD, Graphic Design, Statistics, Accounting or Economics.

    Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook is desired, in addition to possessing strong typing and problem solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

    Ability to travel is preferred, but not required.
