  • Overview

    This person will be responsible for the quality control practices implemented throughout the Lease and ROW processing/administrative department of Western Land Services, and as it relates, supervising all Ludington-based processing staff. Will act as a primary expert for processing-related efforts. Looks for additional business opportunities to maximize the utilization of the processing department. Enhances department’s capabilities and the quality of the department's work product through promotion of and utilization of updated technological resources. This position reports directly to the Lease Records / Processing Manager.


    • Formalize quality control practices throughout the department which would include integrity of data entered into the processing database, as well as QA/QC of all reporting and processing functions.
    • Work with in-house and field project managers, department leaders, and supporting staff to fulfill client and project needs, maintaining positive relationships and promoting communication in all directions.
    • Look for opportunities to assist existing projects that may not be making full use of WLS processing capabilities.
    • Assess and manage staffing levels, handling the entire employee life cycle to include recruiting, hiring, development, and terminating.
    • Conduct performance reviews.
    • Lead training efforts for all processing staff.
    • Recognize and promote opportunities to assist in the professional development of staff.
    • Ensure staff understand and utilize WLS-established file/document protocols, including uniform quality of field documents, use of Forms Manager and integrity of client data and reporting preservation.
    • Communicate with clients through all phases of projects, establishing and enhancing positive and productive working relationships between WLS and clients.
    • Coordinating, reviewing and approving staff billing, as well as client invoices.
    • Recruit new business through understanding of markets, client needs, and WLS resources.
    • Performs duties of a processor as needed, including:
      • Handle client requests for reports and data
      • Manage communication between field staff and in-house departments
      • Review mineral ownership and surface title for lease files
      • Approve and issue bonus payments to lessors
      • Process Right of Way and Operations Agreements
      • Obtain curative documents for drilling title
    • Other related duties as assigned.


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Law is Preferred
    • At least 4 years’ professional experience in the processing environment or a similar field is required.
    • Experience with Excel, Word, Deed Plotter and Flowchart Maker or similar applications.
    • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects with conflicting priorities under tight deadlines.
    • Familiarity with GIS mapping integration.
    • Demonstrates leadership, problem solving, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Positive attitude that promotes an encouraging and productive work environment.
